The Magic of St Christoph

Located at the heart of the legendary Arlberg ski area, St Christoph is best know as a true skiers’ resort and it undoubtedly is, but there is so much more that makes this small but perfectly formed resort so magical. We’re thrilled to have our in-resort team in St Christoph during key weeks this winter, after a few years’ break, so clients will be sure to experience all the best the resort has to offer, both on and off the slopes.
St Christoph is a small hamlet that is perfect for those who want to enjoy the calm and stillness of the mountains, without compromising on any of the alpine charm and gastronomy that is so essential to the perfect ski escape. Hospitality has been entrenched deep in the culture of this village for over 600 years and making guests feel welcomed and at home is treated as an art form.

The gastronomy options in the valley are exceptional and all very easily accessible from the village of St Christoph, with something for all moods and tastes, from fine dining to casual mountain cuisine.
The Hospiz Alm is so well-renowned that individuals and groups travel across the entire Arlberg region to have lunch or dinner here. The cuisine and fine wine collection are excellent and the owners’ delightfully quirky side is obvious when you make a trip to the loo: there’s the option to use the slide instead of the stairs which makes the descent a lot easier (and much more fun) in ski boots.
Another one for the memory bank (and a great story to reminisce about after your trip) is the Arlberg Hospiz Hotel’s impressive wine cellar, which specialises in delicious claret (Bordeaux wine) and boasts one of the largest collections outside France. It is a great choice for a very memorable meal and they also offer wine tastings and private events here.

Another delightful fine dining option is The Hotel Restaurant and Brotherhood Room at the Arlberg Hospiz Hotel, with a small but delectable menu, as well as a lovely space that’s perfect for private events.
Also at the Arlberg Hospiz Hotel is a very historic venue to indulge in delicious fondue. The Ski club Arlberg Fondue Room serves it the traditional way where saddle of veal, fillet of beef, scampi, corn-fed chicken and fresh vegetables are dipped into a beef broth made using the restaurant’s secret recipe. It’s a lovely way to spend a relaxed evening, enjoying the local cuisine and recounting the day’s skiing.
The Tyrolean Inn is ideal for casual local fares like Tiroler Gröstl, Wiener schnitzel, and veal chops, while The Hotel Maiensee has two lovely restaurants, one offering a modern take on delicious local cuisine and the other provides a more rustic dining atmosphere, serving the highest quality international cuisine.

While dining options are anything but limited in St Christoph, the better known and far busier village of St Anton is within easy reach, which is perfect for more lively après ski celebrations, great shopping, restaurants, a sports centre with tennis and squash courts, a ten-pin bowling alley and a lovely modern wellness centre with beautiful alpine views. After enjoying St Anton’s buzzing atmosphere, it is a welcome respite to head home to St Christoph for a peaceful night’s rest away from the crowds.
With most of its hotels in St Christoph enjoying ski-in ski-out access to the slopes, this is an ideal village for true ski lovers and with the new Arlberg Express lift system, which opened in 2017, the resort is even better connected to the rest of the huge Arlberg ski area, including St Anton, Stuben, Zurs, Lech and Warth. There is skiing for every level, with expert skiers and off-piste fanatics as well catered for as beginner and novice skiers, thanks to the gentle nursery slopes that roll down directly in front of the Hotel Maiensee so you can sit and enjoy a drink on the deck and watch your crew whizzing back and forth!
There are also plenty of activities to enjoy in St Christoph apart from skiing, including winter hiking on over 40km of groomed trails, snowshoeing, guided walks by torchlight with hot drinks to enjoy while admiring the stars, cross-country skiing, and even magical horse-drawn sleigh rides.

In nearby Lech, you can make the most of the indoor and outdoor ice skating and curling rinks and get the adrenaline pumping on the 1.2km toboggan run which winds its way through the forest of Lech.
Our Mountain Host will be on hand to ensure you make the most of all the activities and experiences this charming village has to offer.
