Q: Tell us about the range of dining experiences The Chedi has to offer?

The Restaurant, with 15 Gault Millau points, offers an excellent cuisine and unique ambience. The gorgeous dining room features four open studio kitchens, allowing you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the culinary artistry on display. The menu showcases both Asian and European influences, with a tempting selection of classic favourites and creative dishes for you to sample. Cheese connoisseurs will be drawn to The Wine and Cheese Tower, housed in five-metre-high glass walls, where our knowledgeable staff can introduce you to some of Switzerland’s greatest culinary treasures. 

The Japanese, which has been awarded 2 Michelin Stars and 17 Gault Millau points offers diners a fusion of Japanese cuisine with European and boosts a selection over 100 sakes. 

Towering high up on the mountain (2’300 meter above the sea level) in The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt, 1 Michelin Star and 16 Gault Millau points, you can savour Asian delicacies such as Shi- dashi Bento, Tempura and Uramaki Sushi Roll.

Both The Japanese and The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt have new Executive Chefs since Spring 2023, the twins Dominik Sato and Fabio Toffolon. The concept of the two fine dining restaurants with their authentic Japanese cuisine remains, and will be further perfected by these multiple award-winning chefs. Both Sato and Toffolon have worked in leading positions with the best chefs in Switzerland and Europe.

Q: What experience do you want to give your guests when they stay at your hotel over the winter months?

Everyone who stays at The Chedi Andermatt should find their own “The Chedi Moment and we are tuning those moments into memories.” 

Outside of the hotel, our concierge team recommends a lot of fun activities for the entire family, from skiing and cross-country skiing to snow-shoe trekking and ice-skating, there’s something for everyone to have a great time during their stay at The Chedi. And to get around the resort differently, we can also recommend a horse-drawn carriage ride or for the more adventurous, a helicopter flight above Andermatt and its beautiful surrounding mountains. 

Q: What is your favourite dish on the menu in the hotel?

The Omakase menu by The Twins Dominik Sato and Fabio Toffolon at The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt is amazing and of course in combination with Saké or a glass or two from our extensive wine list. By the way, it’s not actually in the hotel, but instead of 2,400 above sea levels.

Q: Since its 2013 opening, what changes and milestones has The Chedi achieved?

Andermatt has been making waves in the culinary world and The Japanese by The Twin has recently received its 2nd Michelin Star all our restaurants together have 48 Gault Millau points as well as 3 Michelin Stars. In addition, we are honing the art of mixology with our award-winning menu at The Bar & Living Room and welcome guests for the past 10 years with our signature cocktails. 

As mentioned earlier, The Chedi has been awarded 2 Michelin Keys, this new, mid 2024, award by the Michelin guide, aims at recognising hotel that excel in all areas, from architectural design to professionalism, with an identifiable personality. In Switzerland, only another 32 hotels have received 2 Michelin Keys. 

The newly opened, in September 2024, Hästens Suite has set a new standard for the guests experience both for sleeping and the stay. The Chedi x Hästens Suite package in the Deluxe Suite offers a new experience, with Hästens Sleep Accessories, a 60-minute Signature Massage at The Spa & Health Club, and multiple food a beverage privileges.  

Q: Are there any new initiatives or facilities you are launching for the coming season that you are particularly excited about?

In November we will open the Winter Village, located in the courtyard at The Chedi, an extraordinary winter wonderland adventure. As you step into the village, you are greeted by twinkling lights, cozy chalets, and the inviting warmth of crackling fires 

In December 2024, Andermatt will unveil a new main street of the Andermatt Reuss village, which will include a new restaurant, IGNIV by 3 Michelin-starred chef, Andreas Caminada, shopping, dining options.
