ROCKBOUND LAKE TRAIL, CANADA

Late spring or early autumn is a spectacular time for an adventure to Banff National Park. Discover the coniferous forests, winding rivers and glacial lakes and spot the unique mountain wildlife. The Rockbound Lake is a gentle trail with stunning views whilst summiting Castle Mountain and is a Powder Byrne favourite when visiting the Rocky Mountains.

PUEZ-ODLE ALTOPIANO, DOLOMITES

A days hike from the picturesque Italian mountain village of San Cassiano is the Puez-Odle Altopiano, one of the highest peaks in the UNESCO world heritage site of the Dolomites. The hike takes around eight hours but you will be rewarded with 360-degree views from your vantage points. TONGARIRO ALPINE CROSSING, NEW ZEALAND

This full-day hike in New Zealand’s oldest national park traverses active volcanoes and explores spectacular vistas, glacial valleys, dramatic landscapes and emerald lakes. LAUGAHRAUN LAVA FIELD, ICELAND

Iceland is home to a number of diverse hiking trails, the Laugavegur trail is one of the most famous and whilst the whole trail takes up to 4 days, there is a shorter 4km section that affords just as scenic views over the red mountain, ‘Sulphur Wave’. This hike is easily accessible from Reykjavik and a popular activity on our Iceland adventure itineraries.

SUBASHIRI TRAIL, JAPAN

This trail offers the path less travelled to summit the highest mountain in Japan. Hikers typically start walking in the early evening to catch the sunrise at the top. This incredible climb can be included as a hosted experience and part of a personalised Air & Space adventure in Japan.

Distance - 11.7km

Best for - missing the crowds

ADAM’S PEAK, SRI LANKA

One of the best experiences Sri Lanka has to offer, Adam’s peak is located on the southern half of the island and hikers typically time it so you can reach the peak for sunrise. The hike is also considered a Buddhist pilgrimage so expect to see the mountain’s resident monks. Adam’s peak is a perfect stop on our ‘Journey South’ Air & Space tour between Kandy and Yala National Park.
