Getting to know the Polo Valley Team: Part 2

Our second interview in our ‘Getting to know the Polo Valley team’ blog series is with Malena Stirling, the Concierge Manager. Read on to find out more about Malena and what she loves about working at Polo Valley.

How long have you been working at Polo Valley?

I’ve only been working at Polo Valley in Sotogrande for 2 months, but I’ve known Christian for years and have been involved with the Argentina polo tour that Polo Valley organises.

What drew you to a career at Polo Valley?

I have loved polo from a young age and both my brothers are professional players, so when I discovered Polo Valley it felt like the perfect place for me to go. I love working outside and with the horses, so that was a massive attraction for me.

How has your role changed since you started?

I’m the Concierge Manager, so along with the rest of the Concierge team, we take care of all the clients and cater to whatever their needs are. We welcome them and make sure they feel completely at home while staying with us. My role hasn’t changed too much but I have definitely become a lot more confident with the managerial position.

What developments have you seen at Polo Valley since you started?

There have been a number of developments since I have been here and things are always changing and improving. When I first arrived, for example, the field next door was basically just a paddock and it's now been developed into offices as part of an ongoing expansion project. It’s exciting to see how fast things change and I can’t wait to see Polo Valley grow even more with the addition of the new site.

What are you most excited about regarding future developments?

I’m really excited about the expansion and building developments and the opportunities these bring with them. It means we can host polo tournaments and large events, possibly opening up as a wedding and events venue, which would be fantastic. All of the team are really excited to see what's to come.

What is your favourite thing to do with clients on their Polo Valley holiday?

My favourite activity is the countryside river hack. It’s the perfect way to explore the surrounding landscape and show the clients all the beauty it has to offer.

Which is your favourite pony and why?

I have to say Zeta, I rode her today and she has a lot of power but she is equally so easy to ride.

What do you love most about working at Polo Valley?

I love all the various people I get to meet and how you really feel part of the clients’ experience. I also love the outdoors and hands-on approach. No day is the same at Polo Valley and every client is different, which makes each day unique and exciting, I love it.
