Delighting Every Sense in Elounda
Our Marketing Executive, Kirsten was lucky enough to experience the sublime Six Senses Spa at Porto Elounda Resort recently and has been raving about it ever since. Here she shares her experience.
It is impossible not to be swept away by incredible Elounda, an exclusive enclave of Crete that is a treat for all the senses, and the Porto Elounda Resort is a haven of relaxation from start to finish. The most magical part of all is the hotel's Six Senses Spa, which I was very fortunate to experience with my husband on a recent trip.
As we stepped into the spa, the delicate smell of aromatherapy oils, the sound of gently flowing water, the beautiful natural materials like precious stone that give the interior a beautifully organic quality and, of course, the view over the resort and the spectacular Mirabello Bay set the scene for an afternoon of pure pampering.
After being welcomed and shown around by the wonderful staff, we were left to enjoy the spa's facilities for a couple of hours - relaxing on the submerged sun loungers complete with built-in water jets, enjoying the 'swim out' pool, which is designed to maximise enjoyment of the stunning views from all parts of the spa, and easing tense muscles using the swimming pool's massage jets. By the time the therapists called us through for our treatments, we were already well and truly relaxed - little did we know what delights still lay ahead.
Because I was pregnant at the time, the therapist discussed my treatments with me in detail so she could make any necessary adjustments to ensure that everything would be 100% safe, which was very reassuring. I had an incredible full body Holistic massage and a nourishing and relaxing facial while my husband was spoilt with a deep tissue massage. Afterwards, eyes glazed over in total relaxation, we were given a chance to slowly adjust to the real world as we sipped herbal tea and snacked on dried fruit on cosy day beds.
When we finally managed to drag ourselves away, we left feeling unbelievably rested and pampered. It is easy to understand why the spa has been awarded numerous accolades, including being recognised as one of the World's top spas in the 2018 Seven Star Lifestyle and Hospitality Awards. Apart from the range of sublime massages and facials, they also offer a variety of full body treatments, acupuncture, meditation, traditional hammam, fitness and beauty treatments. Every treatment is personalised to the client's needs thanks to the therapists' extensive knowledge so it is clear you're in the safest hands.
They really think of every detail to make guests feel really spoilt, like fluffy gowns and slippers, beautiful change rooms with impressive amenities and lovely APITIVA beauty products, which are developed and produced in Greece using natural, organic ingredients.
