Festive Fun in Arosa

Festive Fun in Arosa

Our Head of Marketing Matt and his wife Amy spent Christmas in Arosa with their family, staying in a chalet-style apartment at Powder Byrne’s exclusive development Chesa Forma. Amy wrote about their experience and all that Arosa has to offer for a festive ski holiday.

Arosa was the perfect place for my family’s first Christmas on the slopes. It offered a broad range of skiing and non-skiing activities for us and we fell in love with the magic of the Alps at Christmas. The glistening lights, the picturesque chalets and the fresh snowfall all created the white Christmas we had been dreaming of.

Chesa Forma is nestled in the heart of Arosa, making it the ideal spot for a Christmas getaway. Powder Byrne went above and beyond for us, a complimentary welcome hamper awaited our arrival thanks to the resort team delivering it to our apartment, which included two lovely bottles of wine. They decorated our apartment with beautiful Christmas lights over the fireplace and even gave us our very own Christmas tree to decorate at our leisure. These little touches are really what made Chesa Forma feel like our home away from home.

We were spoilt for choice on the programmes available; the children loved the Yeti ski programme, giving them the guidance and attention they needed to boost their confidence enough to bomb down the mountain by the end of the week! We took full advantage of the Complimentary Ski Guiding and had an amazing time with our guide Will; he took us to the neighbouring resort of Lenzerheide using the Urdenfürggli link, where we enjoyed lunch at the stunning Mottahutte restaurant. The food was exquisite and it had a beautiful sun terrace where we enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate.

Arosa's endless ski slopes from relaxing blues to thrilling blacks made it perfect for our family. The grandparents and the kids had great fun going up and down the blues, practicing their new found skills and me and my husband were able to enjoy the more exhilarating reds/blacks. We especially loved the ‘red 10’ from the top of the Weisshorn - what a run and we were able to meet up with the family at the end of the day and ski back into the valley together on this gentle blue for a brilliant end to the day.

Arosa’s Mountain Host Programme provided constant enjoyment for when we weren’t exploring the slopes. We had the luxury of a beautifully lit winter walk up to Alpenblick restaurant which served wonderful food straight from the BBQ, what a treat in the mountains! The route was steady so perfect for all the family and we were delighted to be able to return to the village by a horse-drawn sleigh ride accompanied with the delicious taste of Glühwein to warm us up.

Powder Byrne created an unforgettable Christmas day in Chesa Forma for my family. We spent the morning ice skating on lake Obersee and returned back to the apartment to find our Private Chef (part of Powder Byrne’s excellent Swiss Cook service) had made delicious festive canapés and a Christmas lunch personalised to our own tastes and dietary requirements. Nothing was too much for Powder Byrne and it really set the scene for a magical holiday.
