An unbeatable week in Lenzerheide
This week I have returned to work following a fantastic “boys week skiing”, with all of us staying at the Priva Alpine Lodge, Lenzerheide. What made the holiday, apart from the company of course, was the great snow, despite the spring conditions, the bluebird days and the knowledge of our ski guide, who found the best runs that were appropriate for our levels of skiing.
The Priva Alpine Lodge was perfect for our needs. The apartment offered spacious living accommodation, our own cooking facilities, a large fridge for necessary supplies and even its own infrared sauna. This, coupled with the facilities of the hotel itself, including an indoor pool, bar, restaurant, mini-market and ski rental, meant that there were no immediate worries on arrival.
Lenzerheide in March offered everything that we could have hoped for. The snow was fantastic up until about 2pm, when we stopped for lunch anyway so did not impact on our ski day at all. The mountain restaurants were all wonderful as they offered great service and outside space, but a particular mention has to be Scharmoin for its service and food and to the Panoramarestaurant Rothorngipfel. Their Rosti and the views were amazing. The mountain bars provided great atmospheres, some even had live music, that encouraged us to stop for “elevenses” or at the end of the ski day. Those where we spent most of our time and money were Avant Clavo Bar & Grill, Motta and the Goldgraber-Bar.
We had a couple of concerns about travelling to Lenzerheide in March in terms of the snow and weather, but these immediately evaporated. There was plenty of snow and I was reassured by the quality of the artificial snow-making facilities should the slopes have needed a fresh covering. We are planning to return for the same time next season!
