Adventure Academy in Sintra, Portugal

In the summer of 2016, we launched the brand new PB Adventure Academy for teenagers looking for an action packed holiday, in Penha LongaSintra. The 5 day programme is put together and run by our dedicated Adventure Academy Manager who will be there to look after and ensure your teens will have the best time.

The programme will see your teens leave the hotel complex at 10am and return at 4.30pm after experiencing some adrenaline-filled activities. This year’s programme will include some of the firm favourites; surfing at the world renowned Guincho beach; paintballing in Alcabideche; and who can forget tackling the inflatable sea obstacle course in Cascais.

As well as all of those fun-filled activities, the PB Adventure Academy will see a whole host of brand new activities. Our kids will be visiting one of our favourite locals, Jovo, on Cascais beach. Owner of the inflatable sea obstacle course, Jovo will take our kids out into Cascais bay and around the marina on his ever popular paddle boards. The group will learn the basic skills of paddle boarding before exploring under the piers and around boats to see all of the bay’s sea life. To explore the sea life even further, the kids will enjoy snorkelling around the rocks in Cascais bay to see what kind of creatures hang out there! Once a week, the group will also have the opportunity to travel to Carcavellos, just 15 minutes from Cascais to have a go at some incredible water sports, including Banana Boats, Crazy Sofas and Ringos!

Another brand new water based activity run by an external company in Cascais will be Kayaking. The company will provide all of the necessary gear and a local guide with some great knowledge of the Cascais and Estoril coast. The group will set off for an all day excursion exploring the beautiful coast line and looking for a private bay to stop and eat a picnic lunch.

Our Adventure Academy Manager will organise the group a morning at the high ropes course, using a local supplier at the nearby forest where the kids will have endless fun swinging in the trees. After an action-packed morning, the academy will stop off at the hotel’s Arola restaurant to refuel for the afternoon. The group will then travel to Guincho where they will have the opportunity to cycle along the picturesque coast before making their way back to the hotel for a well-deserved dip in the pool.

Oh, and as if the days weren’t action packed enough, the PB Adventure Academy will have two evening activities a week. On one evening, the group will go to the local bowling alley where it always gets a little bit competitive to see who will be crowned bowling champion! On another, the Academy takes in a bit of culture when they will visit the beautiful town of Cascais. They will try out the best local ice cream and have a chance to buy some holiday souvenirs from one of the many shops located in the cobbled streets of the town.
