A Taste For Skiing In Alta Badia

Alta Badia, Europe’s premier gourmet ski destination, is delighted to announce that Sky Alps is launching new flights between London Gatwick and Bolzano, making the region’s slopes even more accessible for UK visitors.

Each season, young charismatic chefs will take centre stage at Alta Badia’s latest edition of ‘A Taste for Skiing,’ accompanied by renowned gourmet events like the Gourmet Skisafari, Wine Ski Safari, and a revamped ‘Sommelier on the Slopes.’

Michelin-starred chefs will each be paired with one of Alta Badia’s mountain huts for this year’s ‘A Taste for Skiing.’ Led by emerging chefs from across Italy, this season’s dishes will highlight the concept of ‘revival’ with a focus on sustainability. Using some of Italy’s finest produce, each chef will create their dish with minimal waste and an emphasis on environmental protection. Skiers can enjoy these dishes at reserved outdoor tables, available for pre-booking or on a first-come, first-served basis.

For a reasonable set price, skiers can join an afternoon of guided skiing in Alta Badia, featuring tutored wine tastings of South Tyrol’s best wines at two mountain huts, all while taking in the stunning Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The popular ‘Sommelier on the Slopes’ events will feature six sessions throughout the season, each accompanied by a ski instructor and a professional sommelier.

Adding new aspects each year, in previous seasons there was the additional ‘Sommelier on the Slopes’ events which are held at partner mountain huts, offering tastings of South Tyrolean wines paired with a four-course menu.

The one-day ‘Gourmet Skisafari’ event kicks off Alta Badia’s season-long ‘A Taste for Skiing.’ The event brings Michelin-starred cuisine to 2,000 meters above sea level in the heart of the South Tyrolean Dolomites. Chefs will prepare their dishes in person on the huts’ outdoor terraces, allowing skiers to taste each creation and meet the chefs.

As the season concludes, Alta Badia hosts an exclusive Wine Skisafari, showcasing South Tyrol’s finest wines. Held across several mountain huts, this event offers ticket holders the chance to taste over 60 red, white, and sparkling wines, providing a stylish finale to the winter season.
